Makiri Knives

The Makiri knife can trace its origins back to a basic knife used by the Ainu people in their hunting life. Fishermen carry this small knife on their belts because of its simplicity, durability, usefulness and sharpness; it is a powerful tool that can be used in nature.

In addition to cleaning fish, it has been used in the maintenance of fishing nets, to remove objects that have become entangled in the net, and sometimes to cut ropes that have become tangled in the body during storms. Makiri, which can do almost all jobs on the sea, is an extremely useful knife in many outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and hunting. It is also preferred by professional bartenders; it is used to shape ice blocks for drinks.
